Andreichenko: Belarus, Tajikistan have many opportunities to increase trade turnover
Last year, foreign trade turnover between Belarus and Tajikistan totalled $78m – a small figure. This year it rose by 15 percent over eight months, but I think we still have a lot of opportunities, and these figures, of course, do not correspond to the potential of our countries – as stated by Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko during today’s meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Tajikistan to Belarus Bakhtovar Safarzoda.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives noted the productive and regular work of Belarus-Tajikistan friendship groups on inter-parliamentary co-operation. At the same time, he drew attention to trade-economic interaction, “I think the most important issue today is to take control of the implementation of the roadmap of bilateral co-operation for 2022-2026, signed by the presidents of our countries in Dushanbe. The document reflects all areas of work. Therefore, we need to work more actively and take parliamentary control over how all these directions are implemented. There is something to work on. Tajikistan and Belarus are keen to expand trade-economic liaisons.
According to Vladimir Andreichenko, our countries have many projects for collaboration, “The economy is most vital today. If there’s economy, there will be salaries, stability, people’s well-being – and most importantly – the security of the state. Therefore, we need to work harder.”
