Ambrazevich: Belarus’ SDG performance indicators significantly exceed world average
An important contribution to Belarusian progress under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are reliable and efficient partnerships formed by the country’s political leadership both at the international level with the governments of other countries and international organisations, and within the state with representatives of local authorities, non-government agencies, political parties, academic and business circles – as stated by Belarus’ Deputy Foreign Minister Yuri Ambrazevich on behalf of the National Co-ordinator for Achieving the SDGs in the Republic of Belarus during a speech at the 4th Mogilev Regional Forum on Sustainable Development
As the Belarusian Foreign Ministry’s press service reports, Yuri Ambrazevich underlined the primary responsibility of national governments for ensuring the sustainable development of each state. With reference to the UN leadership, Belarus’ Deputy Minister indicated that the country's results in implementing the international agenda for sustainable development until 2030 compare favourably with the indicators of most states, significantly exceeding the average figures in the world as a whole.
“In the context of the unilateral refusal of Western countries from equal co-operation with our country for political reasons, the Deputy Foreign Minister stressed the importance of preserving national unity and developing mutually beneficial international co-operation with the countries of the East and the Global South for further progress towards the sustainable development of Belarusian society and economy,” the Foreign Ministry Affairs reported.
