Ambassador of Zimbabwe: African market open to Belarusian technology
The African market is open to Belarusian products and technology – as stated by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Zimbabwe to Belarus, Ignatius Graham Mudzimba, on the side-lines of the 18th Economic Forum in Gomel
Belarusians in Zimbabwe are called brothers. As noted by Ignatius Graham Mudzimba, the republic has repeatedly extended a helping hand to its African partners, and this fact is highly appreciated by the people of Zimbabwe. “This year we had a drought, a lot of crops were lost. Belarusians are rendering their assistance, and we really appreciate it. The President of Belarus has also recently instructed to send a mobile clinic to us, and we are very grateful for this gift,” he said.
Speaking of the economic co-operation, the diplomat noted, “We benefit a lot from Gomel agricultural machinery, about a hundred units operate in Zimbabwe already. The Belarusian equipment is very reliable, and other countries in our region show their interest in it as well.”
According to Ignatius Graham Mudzimba, the many kilometres separating the two countries remain the main problem. “It would be good to set up production locally, so that we can satisfy our market. We have raw materials and metal, and we need technology from Belarus. We also produce lithium, but we would like not only to sell it abroad, but also to produce ready-made electrical equipment in partnership with our Belarusian brothers,” he said.
Co-operation is actively conducted in the fields of education and medicine. Tourism also remains a promising direction. By the way, it is in Zimbabwe that the famous Victoria Falls is located.
