Almost fifty countries ready to participate in Russia-Africa Summit

Moscow received confirmation of participation in the Russia-Africa Summit from forty-nine countries – as stated by Deputy Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Africa Department Alexander Polyakov, RIA Novosti reports

Of the 49 countries that have confirmed their participation in the summit, more than half of African states will be represented at the highest level: the level of heads of state and government.

According to Alexander Polyakov, this approach of African countries demonstrates their ‘firm intention to develop relations with Russia, despite an unprecedented pressure from the West’.

The 2nd Russia-Africa summit and economic forum are scheduled to take place on July 27th-28th this year in St. Petersburg.
