Aleinik held meetings with BRICS FMs
Belarus’ Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik met with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cuba, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, in Nizhny Novgorod on June 10th as part of the Belarusian delegation’s participation in a session of the BRICS Foreign Ministers, sb.by reports with reference to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry
The colleagues noted the friendly nature of the Belarusian-Cuban relations and stressed the unacceptability of illegal sanctions and pressure measures. Mr. Aleinik expressed his support for Cuba and confirmed the position on the need to exclude this country from the discriminatory list of US state sponsors of terrorism.
The ministers discussed co-operation projects in the fields of agriculture, mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals and welcomed the holding of the 11th meeting of the Belarusian-Cuban joint commission on trade and economic co-operation in Minsk on June 10th-12th, 2024.
Special attention was paid to the situation in the Latin American region and interaction in international organisations.
Bilateral projects, a schedule of promising contacts, BRICS issues and the international situation were discussed with the UAE Foreign Minister, Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
In turn, the meeting with Acting Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani was devoted to assessing the implementation of bilateral agreements and identifying priority joint activities to expand economic, humanitarian and other areas of co-operation. The parties recognised the positive dynamics of mutual trade turnover.
The Iranian side expressed firm support for Belarus' accession to BRICS and accession to the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation. The immutability of the course of the two countries towards the development of co-operation was confirmed.
In addition, Mr. Aleinik held brief meetings with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, and South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor.
