Aleinik: Belarus’ economic diplomacy to be aimed at increasing exports
Sergei Aleinik made a statement while being introduced to the Foreign Ministry’s staff
“I am sincerely grateful to the President of Belarus for the trust placed in me in connection with my appointment as Foreign Minister. I realise that this is a huge responsibility. Yesterday, during the appointment, Aleksandr Grigorievich [Lukashenko] said simply, yet succinctly: ‘It won’t be an easy job’. This is true, and we clearly understand this – especially at the current stage of a radical change in the world order, unprecedented geopolitical tensions, the devaluation of international law, the redrawing of essentially all the rules of international relations,” Mr. Aleinik said.
The Foreign Minister assured those present that he would direct all his 30-year experience of the diplomatic service to the effective implementation of Belarus’ main directions of the foreign policy.
Mr. Aleinik stressed that the priorities of the foreign policy remain unchanged, “The guideline has clearly been defined by the Head of State: the preservation of sovereignty and independence, the development of economic potential and the improvement of citizens’ welfare.” He added that the Foreign Ministry would continue working with traditional partners, while strengthening co-operation on integration platforms.
“Economic diplomacy will be aimed at increasing exports, expanding the support tools, geographical commodity diversification, and assistance to our exporters,” Belarus’ Foreign Minister stated.
