The Al Jazeera representative noted that the Belarusian leader was very convincing – as always. “It was what journalists like to get. There were fine-sounding headlines, and it was good. I asked a question about the equipping of a certain type of tactical weapon, and the President answered all the main questions in detail. He even revealed secrets. That was very interesting," Zaur Sheozh said, adding, “I constantly follow his press conferences and interviews, and that meeting met my expectations. He followed his own style – with political sarcasm and sometimes even rigidity.”
That was not the journalist’s first visit to Belarus. "I came here for the first time in 2015, covering the Minsk agreements. Then and now, I am amazed with local people’s purity and kindness. People here are actually white, like the walls of the city," he said. “When the Minsk agreements were signed, Belarus and its President played a big role in the process. I remember backstage conversations with Poroshenko, Merkel, and Hollande. Of course, it was better to keep to any treaty, decision and peace agreement than to fight, and I am telling you this as an analyst."
Zaur Sheozh also appreciated Aleksandr Lukashenko's offer to American President Joe Biden to visit Minsk during his upcoming visit to Warsaw and to arrange a meeting with Vladimir Putin. At the same time, the Moscow Bureau Chief expressed his conviction that Joe Biden would not accept the invitation.
