Agriculture and Food Minister: some Belarusian farms already successfully engaged into soybean cultivation

As regards the protein content, Belarusian soybeans are not inferior to imported crops – as stated by Agriculture and Food Minister Anatoly Linevich in his talk with the ONT TV channel, sb.by reports

Mr. Linevich noted that global warming affects crop cultivation, “Basically, priority should be given to heat-loving crops – such as corn, soybeans and sunflowers – in conditions of global warming. Many institutes in Belarus are already engaged in the introduction of varieties of both corn and legumes. Earlier, it was hardly possible to assert that soybeans can be grown in Belarus, but a number of farms are already cultivating this crop successfully. Actually, its protein content is not inferior to imported analogues.”

The Agriculture and Food Minister also stressed that animal husbandry mostly prevails in Belarus, so the crop production sector is focused on it – ‘and the latter generates results and profit’.
