EEC: our efforts aimed at the development of Eurasian transport corridors

Yelena Sherysheva, Deputy Director of the Eurasian Economic Commission’s Transport and Infrastructure Department spoke on this topic

The EEC Transport and Infrastructure Department is working on the development of the Eurasian transport corridors.

Speaking about the strategic goals facing the EAEU member states in the field of transport infrastructure, she noted, “For the further development of the Eurasian transport corridors and routes, it’s planned to develop measures necessary for their integrated development. It’s expected to complete the domestic procedures necessary for signing the agreement on permissible weights, axle loads and dimensions of vehicles when driving on highways included in the Eurasian transport corridors.”

Moreover, according to her, in line with the information provided by the EAEU states on the bottlenecks (restrictions) of the transport infrastructure in the East-West and North-South directions, it is planned to work out the issues of forming a list of specific bottlenecks, developing approaches to assessing the potential effect of their elimination, as well as assessing the necessary funding.

“These measures will increase the throughput of main roads and eliminate bottlenecks (restrictions) of the transport infrastructure in the territories of the EAEU member states,” she added.
