About 70% of Belgospishcheprom products sold domestically
About 70 percent of the products produced by subordinate enterprises of the Belgospishcheprom Concern are supplied to the domestic market, sb.by reports with reference to the organisation’s press service
As noted by the source, the domestic enterprises are tasked to ensure Belarus’ food security, produce high-quality products to meet customer demand, and be represented in all price segments. “The positive dynamics in the supply of Belgospishcheprom Concern’s products has been preserved in five industries: confectionery, food concentrate, alcohol, brewing and canning. The volume of imports is maintained in all categories of sweets,” it said.
Last year, almost 100,000 tonnes of confectionery products were imported to Belarus, and Russia takes the largest share in the total volume of imports: about 90 percent.
“Turkiye is among other confectionery supplier countries, its share is growing against the background of an increase in total imports. In 2022, the share of Turkish sweets in imports made 4.5 percent, and it reached 5.5 percent by the end of 2023,” the press service said. In addition, all applications for the supply of sugar for both trade and industrial processing were met. “For the third year in a row, almost 100 percent of the domestic market is provided by domestic sugar,” it reported.
Import-substitution is another equally important area of the concern's work. “The volume of products manufactured to replace foreign analogues amounted to about 1/3 of the total volume of goods produced by the concern's enterprises last year. An increase of 102.4 percent was achieved compared to the previous year in the comparable nomenclature. This year, the import substitution plan includes energy drinks, waffle tubes with filling, candies with a liquid centre, sugar-free candies with protein, beer, tequila, whiskey, rum, and more," the press service informed.
Interestingly, the International Symposium of Confectioners dedicated to Year of Quality will be held on May 23rd-24th in Minsk, gathering about 300 people. In addition to representatives from Russia, guests from Serbia, Kyrgyzstan and Brazil will arrive. Moreover, it is planned to attract partners from China, Africa and Europe.
Special emphasis will be placed on issues of technical regulation in the field of confectionery products, quality, safety and standardisation of raw materials, ingredients and finished products.
