A dozen of co-ordinators and performers of disruption of Belarus’ referendum detained
Around ten co-ordinators and performers of the disruption of the referendum in Belarus have been detained – as informed by the Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee’s Central Office, Sergei Kabakovich, in his talk with the ONT TV channel, BelTA reports
"The Investigative Committee has received materials from the State Security Committee regarding the fact that a group of persons committed extremist actions manifested in an attempt to exert an illegal influence on members of election commissions," Mr. Kabakovich said, adding that the materials have been legally assessed.
“A criminal case has been opened. By now, around ten co-ordinators and performers have been detained, in various regions of the country. The investigation of the criminal case continues," Mr. Kabakovich informed.
As reported, the State Security Committee of Belarus has uncovered groups of persons that – led by foreign curators – planned to thwart the constitutional referendum in the country. These people – instructed from abroad – called for spoiling ballots, intimidating and threatening election commission members. The letters they sent on behalf of the police and judges contained direct threats and indicated that their addresses are known. The curators from abroad have been identified, while the co-ordinators and ordinary performers in Belarus have been detained.
