“Belarusians know very well the true meaning of this concept. For almost two decades, our people were divided by artificial borders, which did not contribute to normal relations, the development of the country and did not give any prospects,” the congratulatory message reads. “Then WWII caused even more damage, which took every third inhabitant. Neither Belarusians nor Germans should forget these terrible facts.”
“We often hear that it is impossible to make adjustments to the course of history. However, we are not just witnessing modern events, but we have an influence on them and can change the negative scenario of development,” the Head of State stressed.
Aleksandr Lukashenko drew attention to the fact that the modern generation of Belarusians and Germans have a lot in common and understand each other much better than a hundred years ago. “We have accumulated invaluable experience in contacts across a wide variety of industries. Minsk carefully preserves them, no matter what. The doors of our house are always open for guests from Germany and other countries, for all people of good will who come to us with a pure heart and wish us well,” the Belarusian leader noted. “I believe that very soon harmony and mutual understanding will be added to the value of unity, which was so difficult to achieve for us. Welcome to Belarus!”
