3,000 Ukrainian refugees likely to be evicted from Cypriot hotels

The authorities of Cyprus want to evict about 3 thousand Ukrainian refugees from hotels by the beginning of the upcoming tourist season, the local Alpha TV channel reports

It is noted that, in Cyprus, Ukrainian refugees who have the status of temporary refugee protection in the EU are accommodated in twenty-one hotels.

According to the TV channel, the country’s competent authorities have sent a notification to Ukrainians that, by May 31st, 2023, they must find housing elsewhere.

The media emphasised that the Cypriot authorities are acting according to the previously adopted decisions, based on which the Ukrainian refugees who arrive to the island from March 1st, 2023 can stay in hotels for up to six months.

As for the hotels that will continue to accept refugees from Ukraine after June 1st, they will be selected on the basis of a tender announced by the State Committee for Tourism.
