280,000 people visited Brest Fortress in 2024
“In 2023, our excursion guides conducted 11,820 excursions – an unprecedented figure for the last two decades. This year, we are working even more actively: in five months we have already had 5,200 excursions,” Mr. Korkotadze said.
Summer is the hottest time for memorial complex employees, with many excursions organised for schoolchildren. The calendar of upcoming events includes the Day of National Remembrance of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War.
On June 21st-22nd, the memorial complex will be hosting a conference with the Border Service Institute of Belarus – Memory without Borders – and a patriotic action, entitled A Combat Unit.
Participants of the Memory Train campaign – held upon the initiative of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and the Federation Council of Russia – will also arrive at the Brest Fortress. The peculiarity of this year’s event is that children not only from Belarus and Russia, but from all eight CIS member states, wished to visit the Union State memorable places.
As is traditional, the events of the Union State Standing Committee will be held to mark the 83rd anniversary since the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. These include the organisation of a round table discussion with the presentation of a new edition from the Library of the Union State series: Operation Bagration. Partisans of the Belarusian Land.
