22m books published in Belarus in 2021, Information Minister says
Belarus’ Information Minister, Vladimir Pertsov, has attended an opening ceremony of the 29th Minsk International Book Fair today. According to him, 22m books were published in Belarus last year, and a number of new editions in all categories grew as well.
“This means people need books and fairs of the kind – which gather publishers, including from abroad. Twelve countries have sent 222 participants to our exhibition these days,” Mr. Pertsov said, adding, “Readers can find here books that they might fail to see in stores. Not all countries organise such book forums. Belarus is among the few states where the book fair did not stop its work last year and the year before. Book lovers really appreciate this fact.”
Since the book fair is taking place in the Year of Historical Memory, this topic embraces all expositions and events. As informed by Mr. Pertsov, The River of Time of the Fatherland is the key project of the exhibition. It enables all those who wish to download archival photos of Belarus’ sights to their phones.
The book fair in Minsk is running until March 27th.
