220 hectares of new forests planted in Belarus
Foresters have already begun their autumn work and planted 220 hectares of new forests – as informed by the Forestry Ministry
Anastasia Matskevich, the Forestry Ministry’s press secretary, explains, “This spring, forestry workers planted almost 200m trees on the territory of over 35.3 hectares and, accordingly, met the goals set for this year. However, works continue in autumn and additional trees are being plated. Mogilev and Vitebsk forestries are more actively involved into this process – covering 1,430 and 855 hectares, respectively.”
This Saturday, the Clean Forest campaign will be held countrywide. Volunteers are welcomed to plant new forests. As planned, over 1.5m trees will be planted. In addition, more than 4,000 cubic metres of garbage will be removed from forests and about 50 places of mass recreation will be revamped. 2,000+ objects wait for volunteers all over the country.
