2022 was successful for almost 70% of Belarusians
Last year was successful for almost 70 percent of Belarusians – according to the results of a study conducted by the Sociology Institute at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, NAS reports
A telephone survey of residents of Belarus aged 18 years and older was conducted in November 2022 in all regional cities and the city of Minsk, district cities and rural settlements. More than a thousand respondents took part in the study.
According to the NAS’ Institute of Sociology, the majority of respondents – 69.4 percent – called 2022 a successful year for themselves.
It was unsuccessful for 22.2 percent of the respondents, and 8.4 percent of the citizens found it difficult to answer. 61 percent of those polled believe that 2023 will be better for them personally than 2022 while 18.1 percent of citizens, on the contrary, believe that this year will be the same for them as the previous one. Only 4.5 percent of those polled fear worsening in 2023 while 16.4 percent found it difficult to clearly formulate their own forecasts.
Meanwhile, 63.6 percent of citizens expect improvements for Belarus in 2023 while 13.8 percent of respondents said that the situation won’t change. 7.9 percent of survey participants are afraid of worsening, yet another 14.7 percent found it difficult to answer this question.
In 2023, Belarusians most of all wish health – 24.8 percent and peace – 19.8 percent. Somewhat less often, those surveyed mentioned calmness, economic growth, happiness, improvement of life, and love.
