134,000+ foreigners treated in Belarusian healthcare institutions in 2023
Last year, citizens of 149 countries used medical services in Belarus, and that was more than in the pre-COVID year 2019 – as stated by Dmitry Kalistratov, the Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship, Pricing and State Property of the Healthcare Ministry
“Cardiology, oncology, neurology, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, and dentistry were the most popular areas. Foreigners appreciate our ever-developing high technologies. We are also offering new services: i.e. surgical interventions using 3D models of hearts. Cellular technologies are widely used as well,” the specialist explained.
According to Mr. Kalistratov, there has been a serious diversification, “The share of CIS citizens in the total number of foreigners has decreased, and the number of citizens of other states has increased: the latter make up more than 30 percent. Last year, citizens of Austria, Belgium, Montenegro, Serbia, and the United States demonstrated a special interest. Lithuania and Latvia were also in the top.”
