Zakharova: improving mechanisms for combating security threats to be Russia’s priority in CIS
One of the priorities of Russia’s presidency in the CIS next year will be to improve mechanisms for countering security threats – as stated by official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, TASS reports
During the briefing, Zakharova said, “It’s important that in the law enforcement and military spheres, Russian priorities [of the CIS presidency] will include improving mechanisms for jointly countering traditional and new challenges and threats to security, strengthening the CIS external borders, and building the capacity of specialised multilateral mechanisms and programmes.”
The Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson recalled that the CIS summit, held in October in Bishkek, created ‘the necessary legal framework for building this work at a new level’.
The CIS presidency will pass from Kyrgyzstan to Russia from January 1st, 2024.
