Yanchevsky told how the President supported IT sector and HTP
The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, once again supported the High Tech Park – as Vsevolod Yanchevsky, Director of HTP Administration, told reporters when commenting on the results of the meeting with the Head of State, discussing draft decrees on HTP development
Vsevolod Yanchevsky stated that the Belarusian IT sector today is not working in the easiest conditions, but is facing various challenges and risks, including sanctions pressure. Meanwhile, the global IT-sphere is also currently in crisis. observing a large drop in the capitalisation of IT-companies and layoffs in large corporations.
“The Head of State once again traditionally (as it is from year to year) expressed support to our IT sector, to our HTP not only with words, but with actions and decisions. The President went forward and supported. The warm relationship that can be observed for years lasts and continues,” he said.
The Director of the HTP Administration expressed confidence that the IT sector would also show reciprocal support towards the state, “There is only one counter movement in this case: so that the HTP, as before, benefits the economy, the country, our people and, despite all the difficulties and troubles, keeps this bar very high in our country and worldwide.”
According to Vsevolod Yanchevsky, today there is a boom in the global development of artificial intelligence (AI): there are already huge breakthroughs in this area and there will be further ones. By the way, it was the HTP that was once called in the Western press one of the centres for AI development in Eastern Europe. The development of this segment was also discussed at the last meeting, especially since there are many companies in Belarus (including startups) that specialise in AI and produce quality products.
“Those decisions that were made, are being made and will be made by the President, will support not only the HTP and the IT sector as a whole, but also one of the most promising and significant areas: the development of AI,” underlined the Director of the HTP Administration.
