The railway line will stretch for 1,541km between the capital of Vietnam and the financial capital in the south of the country. The new train is expected to reach speeds of up to 350km/h, which will reduce travel time from the current 30 hours to just five.

The decision was made by the National Assembly of Vietnam.

"Construction is expected to begin in 2027 and Vietnam hopes that the first trains will start operating by 2035," the source reported.

The train will pass through 20 provinces and cities, with 23 passenger and five freight stations on its way. It will transport both people and goods, and will also be used for defence purposes.
