According to Reuters, the Republican team believes that to be an option to bring the risk of armed conflict down. The news agency further claims Trump is yet to make the final decision on the issue.

As Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko said earlier, Russia thinks it’s possible that Trump would want to meet with the DPRK leader again, just as he did during his first term.

The first summit between the US and the DPRK took place in June 2018 in Singapore. Trump and Kim met again in Hanoi in February 2019, but couldn’t reach common ground even after multiple talks, including one-on-one, so no joint documents were signed. Their third and last meeting took place on June 30th, 2019, in the DMZ between North and South Koreas. On October 5th, 2019, US and DPRK representatives had a work meeting in Sweden, but their talks were again fruitless.
