The Hague Tribunal should develop a concern about Poland
This opinion was shared by Anatoly Shchastny, a member of the Council of the Republic, while commenting on the situation with refugees on the Belarusian-Polish border, BelTA reports
“What is developing on the border is not even a migration crisis. This is a crisis of the entire policy of western countries, the policy of doublethink and double standards. At first, these states, with the so-called developed democracy, shamelessly divide the wealth and mineral resources that do not belong to them, destroy economies and course of life, and separate families. Meanwhile, when refugees try to get into the European Union in despair, these recent human rights activists are building barbed wire fences, using water cannons and tear-gas. Moreover, they are looking for those to blame for what is happening somewhere else but not at their home,” Mr. Shchastny said.
According to him, the current situation is a continuation of lies and violation of laws – previously observed in Yugoslavia, Iraq, and Syria. “When western politicians are confronted with a fact, they pronounce their favourite phrase, "This is different." Belarus pursues an independent, sovereign policy, which means it is already guilty in the eyes of western politicians. I believe that the Polish authorities’ actions are an example of inhumanity and a blatant criminal act. That's who The Hague Tribunal should develop a concern about. The Belarusian people are friendly and hospitable. The horrors of the war are still fresh in our memory, and we will always provide assistance to those in need. We value every human life,” Mr. Shchastny summed up.
