Russia's CSTO representative announced threat of deployment of NATO tactical nuclear weapons near borders of Belarus, Russia
The North Atlantic Alliance is concentrating forces on the borders of Russia and Belarus with the potential to deploy systems for tactical nuclear weapons – as stated by the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Russian Federation to the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO), Viktor Vasilyev, in an interview with the Allies. CSTO publication, TASS reports
"There is a concentration of NATO armed forces on the borders of Belarus and the Russian Federation, including the potential to deploy assets capable of carrying nuclear munitions," Mr. Vasilyev said. According to him, CSTO notes ‘an unprecedented increase in tension in Europe’, “The strategic situation worsened after Finland and Sweden joined the North Atlantic Alliance.”
"NATO is taking advantage of the situation by increasing its presence in Eastern and Central Europe, as well as in the Baltic States. Additional strike systems are being deployed there, the army infrastructure is being improved, and the intensity of joint exercises is increasing," the politician stressed. “As a result, the principles of equal and indivisible security have been violated, as well as the refusal to strengthen one's own security at the expense of others. It can be stated that there is an absolute crisis in this sphere in Europe, and the Euro-Atlantic security concept has simply failed."
The most important and sad trend is a large-scale confrontation and a focus on escalation. As noted by Mr. Vasilyev, the West is trying to maintain global dominance and restrain the development of sovereign states.
