Pan-African Parliament granted observer status to Belarus’ National Assembly
The National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) signed memorandum on co-operation at the PAP Headquarters, sb.by learned from the House of Representatives’ Secretariat Department on Information and Analysis
“Granting the National Assembly of Belarus an observer status at this influential continent-wide organisation is an important step in developing our dialogue on any issues that are of mutual interest to Belarus and 55 African countries. Africa is a region with an enormous potential, so the competition for the chance to be present at that market is quite fierce. Belarus has earned its reputation as a reliable and predictable partner that builds up its relations following the principles of equality and mutual respect. Our approach is better than the one used by proponents of the dying colonial system: it offers excellent prospects for mutually rewarding partnerships in economy and humanitarian areas. African countries control 25 percent of all votes in the UN, so strengthening our political contacts when it comes to parliamentary diplomacy will foster peaceful, unifying initiatives and development of a just multipolar world,” said our source in the Department.
Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko and President of the Pan-African Parliament Hon. Fortune Charumbira signed the document.
