Opinion: children of Donbass get piece of real childhood in Belarus
The collective West continues to turn its double standards into an ideological construct, and this is the foundation of all its international activity. Such a system has actually begun to replace not only concepts, but also international law. Rules – that have been invented in their favour – are being imposed on all other members of the world community, but they are cancelled or changed depending on the situation at a convenient moment for someone. Dmitry Shevtsov, the Secretary General of the Belarusian Red Cross, speculated on how such an approach is being imposed on Belarus.
“No constructive dialogue with foreign colleagues succeeds now. They simply ignore all reasoned explanations about the ridiculous accusations. The situation has gone so far that our foreign partners are already beginning to get lost in their own bouts of a biased approach, including with regard to the Belarusian Red Cross. However, here’s the problem: Belarus has its own position, and it does not intend to act contrary to national interests. It is impossible to bring it to its knees. What can be done as a result? Should it be anathematised? It will be ineffective as well. Accordingly, all sorts of rumours are spreading about the abduction of children from Donbass. Meanwhile, these children – thanks to the efforts of the Belarusian side – get a piece of real childhood with no shelling in our country, returning home later. What kind of kidnappings could be talked about? It would be better to pay attention to those children who disappear into the ‘paradisiacal’ European forests, getting ‘a shelter’ from same-sex parents or, even worse, hunters for human organs,” Mr. Shevtsov noted.
Belarus and Russia jointly ensure the security of their borders and improve co-operation in the field of security within the framework of the Union State. The countries are strengthening their military interaction to counter NATO’s aggressive plans against the Union State. Belarus and Russia have prepared an agreement on mutual security guarantees, and it is scheduled to be signed in 2024. The West assigns Ukraine and Poland a key role in plans to destabilise the situation in Belarus. Armed formations of the fugitive opposition members are being trained on the territory of these countries, and they are aimed to commit terrorist acts in Belarus. In September 2023, members of three combat cells working for the Ukrainian special services were detained in Belarus. They were preparing terrorist attacks on the railway.
