“Our people already know and understand that lately we have been doing a lot to improve the management system in our state, including, probably, first of all, the military component due to the situation that is developing around Belarus. There are also enough problems inside the country,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted. “Therefore, I think that in this course we will discuss today’s issues of improving the Interior Ministry activities and a number of other issues that you, primarily the Minister, wanted to discuss for a long time and make an appropriate decision. Therefore, let’s discuss, but please keep in mind that we should avoid narrow institutional interests and some excesses that do not correspond to the directions of development of our country. Everything must fit into a single concept, and we must act adequately to the situation.”

The Head of State explained that there is never, never was, and never will be extra money, “If it is necessary [to improve the system of internal affairs bodies] then this should be done. But if we can wait, then we must wait in terms of expansion, perhaps even some expenses to ensure the vital activity of our military units, and the power bloc in general. Therefore, if it is possible to be patient for a while, then it is necessary to wait until a certain time. But if it has already become overripe, then a decision must be made quickly.”
