Lukashenko invites Uzbekistan to intensify regional co-operation
Belarus and Uzbekistan liaise very closely in international organisations, especially in regional associations – as stated today by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, during his meeting with Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva
In particular, the Belarusian Head of State expressed gratitude to Uzbekistan for its support in the issue of Belarus’ expedited accession to the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation, “Thanks for the SCO. You have always supported and continue to support us. We will always support you. Because your course and the course of Belarus towards peacefulness, towards friendly relations with neighbours and other countries is also our course,”
The first Belarusian-Uzbek women’s business forum, which is taking place these days in Minsk, should also play its role in the development of bilateral relations. In this regard, Aleksandr Lukashenko proposed – using the experience of co-operation between Belarus and Russia in relations with Uzbekistan – to switch to regional interaction, based primarily on the economy, “This is important for us. This is even more important for Uzbekistan in terms of technology. In this regard, starting not with simple trade, but with the co-operation of our enterprises, the transfer of our technologies to Uzbekistan, it would be very interesting for you. We’re ready to work absolutely openly in this direction. We boast certain experience, technologies, and we’re ready to share these with you. I would very much like to liaise more closely with Uzbekistan, because you have a lot of goods that interest us and are useful to us.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko asked to convey his warmest and best wishes to Shavkat Mirziyoyev and assured that he would try to visit Uzbekistan in winter in response to the invitation of his Uzbek colleague.
