Kochanova: Youth Council is good platform for training future government personnel
The Youth Council is a good platform for training young personnel for further work in government structures – as noted by Natalya Kochanova, the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, before a meeting with participants of the 2nd Belarusian Youth Parliamentary Forum
“The establishment of the Youth Council at the National Assembly has fully justified itself. This is based not even on our assessments, but on the assessments of those young people who want to get there (I regularly visit student classrooms, and young people are always interested in this). This suggests that it is an effective organ. Youngsters [of this convocation] have been constantly working with us for two years, attending receptions of citizns on private issues, sessions, and taking part in all our events.”
For example, according to Ms. Kochanova, youth platforms proved themselves very well at the recently held Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, during which our Youth Council met with young parliamentarians from Russia.
“In general, the international activities of our Youth Council are quite extensive,” the Speaker of the Council of the Republic noted. “When the term of work of our young people ends – and this August a new composition will be elected – we assess their work based on our vision, while also taking into account the opinion of the Youth Council chairperson and its governing body. We give young people recommendations, which we send to the governors in the regions and the Belarus President Administration. Those who have proven themselves form a promising reserve for further work in government structures and in senior positions.”
