FM: Oman ready to build long-term relations with Belarus
Oman is ready to build long-term relations with Belarus – as stated by Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov on the side-lines of the working visit of President Aleksandr Lukashenko to Oman, BelTA reports
“We actually feel the readiness of our Omani colleagues to build (the President asked, and they answered) long-term relations. At the heart of this relationship, we already see respect for each other and a really genuine interest. We view Oman as a state that, throughout its thousand-year history, has always had key positions in trade and development of relations in the region – the whole of East Africa, Yemen, and India. With this in mind, we very much count on Oman's support not only in developing just trade and economic relations between the two countries, but also in using Oman's opportunities to promote Belarusian products further in other markets. There are grounds for this, and this is what our leaders have also discussed today,” the Foreign Minister said.
Answering the question whether international issues are on the negotiating agenda of the heads of state, Mr. Ryzhenkov said, “Of course, such issues [are discussed]. Actually, sensitive problems of the kind are usually negotiated behind closed doors. Right now [during the conversation with the Minister], the leader’s one-on-one meeting is being held. I am sure that the issues on today's international agenda are also being discussed by them there.”
