Expert: West escalating current international situation
The West uses various platforms – the OSCE and the UN – to pursue its line of confrontation. Understanding this, Belarus, Russia, and other countries of good will maintain their presence there in order to be able to convey their position – as noted by Adviser-Envoy of the Embassy of Belarus in Russia Aleksandr Shpakovsky in his talk with Alfa Radio.
Programme host Vadim Shepet noted that an unpleasant story is happening around the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE): there’s a practice of deliberately excluding certain states from dialogue and contacts on issues of arms control, confidence- and security-building measures. “In principle, representatives of our country have stated more than once that this creates a serious risk of a critical deterioration of the situation in the area of regional security. Why is the West deliberately exacerbating this situation, which is already very difficult now?” he asked.
“This is connected with the West escalating the current international situation,” noted the expert. “Therefore, any forms of control that may bring all their plans to light are unacceptable for the collective West. Moreover, the West seeks to dominate the existing international platforms: the UN, the OSCE. We understand this situation, but at the same time we maintain a presence on these platforms in order to be able to convey our position, which is important in diplomacy. Now we are in a period of transformation of the world order: a transition from a unipolar to a multipolar system. I’m convinced that the emergence of a multipolar world is inevitable, and that West’s actions will subsequently be given some assessment, including from the point of view of international law. In this situation, it is important that Belarus, Russia, and other states of good will declare their position at various prestigious international platforms, at least for the sake of history, so that later it will be possible to examine the sequence of points of view of the parties using documents and identify states, representatives of policy-making circles and all those responsible who have brought humanity to the brink of WWIII.”
Moreover, Aleksandr Shpakovsky drew attention to the bias of OSCE observers in election campaigns in various states.
“Somewhere they don’t even find money to come for observation. Though they are not even invited there as, e.g., to the United States of America. Meanwhile, somewhere a team – mainly from representatives of Western countries – is landing with prepared protocols and reports on the election campaign. One more aspect related to the OSCE is connected with the ever-memorable Minsk Agreements. The OSCE acted as a guarantor of compliance with these agreements, a kind of mediator, but in fact, the OSCE mission in Donbass was repeatedly caught in espionage activities in favour of the Ukrainian side. The OSCE mission has become not a factor of peace, but a factor of division and destruction. Such actions precisely indicate that today this structure is dominated by representatives of Western countries, often related not to diplomatic circles, but to special services and intelligence. Naturally, they twist the position of this organisation in such a way that the West’s illegal actions to escalate the international situation are hidden, and all possible tools that can help the international community really identify the true warmongers – those who are pushing humanity towards militarisation – are stopped and blocked,” summed up the expert.
