Communications Minister: achieving SDGs among Belarus’ top priorities

The Sustainable Development Goals are aimed at ensuring a comfortable life for all citizens, including those who find themselves in a difficult life situation – as stated by Belarus’ Minister of Communications and Informatisation Konstantin Shulgan at the recently held seminar focusing on the advanced technologies needed to support sustainable, inclusive and accessible society

According to Mr. Shulgan, meetings of the kind are expected to become a good tradition, since achieving the Sustainable Development Goals is one of the most important tasks of the country. “These goals are aimed at ensuring a comfortable life for all citizens, including those who find themselves in a difficult life situation. Difficulties should not limit the opportunities of Belarusians to participate in public life and other aspects related to normal human activity. It is especially important that the modern technologies that we are implementing help us solve these problems, he said.

Mr. Shulgan added that holding of information events increases the literacy of citizens and the competence of government representatives. “Significant attention is already being paid to these issues in Belarus, but the use of new technologies opens up additional opportunities,” he said.
