CIS Games to be held in Belarus in 2023
The CIS Council for Physical Education and Sport has chosen Belarus as host of the 2nd CIS Games in 2023 – as reported by the CIS Executive Committee
In 2025, the 3rd CIS Games will be hosted by Azerbaijan.
Representatives of Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the CIS Executive Committee participated in the Council session held in the format of a videoconference. Topical issues of CIS sports liaisons were discussed – such as holding of CIS championships, tournaments and cups in certain sports. A practice of holding sports competitions in the CIS under the Commonwealth of Independent States’ auspices is in place now but there is no unified procedure for granting the right to hold such competitions, requirements for their organisers, and conditions. The meeting participants decided to instruct a working group on preparation and organisation of the CIS Games to develop a draft regulation on the CIS championships (tournaments, cups) in different sports by June 1st, 2022.
In addition, a workplan of the CIS Council for Physical Education and Sport for 2022 was approved, while information on preparations for the next Council session was shared. The meeting is scheduled to be held in Tashkent in 2022.
