BSMU, Azerbaijan Medical University discussed areas for further co-operation

The two rectors discussed pertinent areas of co-operation between the Belarusian State Medical University (BSMU) and the Azerbaijan Medical University during their meeting in Minsk, the BSMU press service informed

“The Belarusian side was represented by BSMU Rector Sergei Rubnikovich, the Azeri side – by AMU Rector Garay Chingiz Garaybayli and Vice-Rector for International Relations Orkhan Isayev. Guests from Baku came to Minsk to take part in the national research conference dedicated to the centenary anniversary of the BSMU Department of Psychiatry, Narcology, Psychotherapy and Clinical Psychology with an advanced training and re-training course,” said BSMU Press Secretary Oksana Kurbeko.

During the meeting, Mr. Rubnikovich said he hopes the relations between the two universities are rebooted.

“We have to move proactively forward, and we have all the opportunities to do just that. We are ready to discuss academic mobility issues, including those related to Azeri students’ participation in our summer schools, department exchanges, both theoretical and clinical. We have to use those interactions to benefit our universities and our peoples,” the rector said.

After finishing their negotiations, the meeting participants went to the BSMU History Museum, the Museum of Anatomy, the National Centre for Professional Certification and Simulation Training pf Healthcare and Pharma Workers, and inspected the university’s equipment and facilities. The guests from Azerbaijan also participated in the research conference called Healthcare: Global Challenges and Threats. Medical Technology Assessment.

The Azerbaijan Medical University was founded in 1930 as an offshoot of the Baku State University's medical school. Today, it’s the leading medical research centre in Azerbaijan, generously outfitted with equipment, academic facilities, student campuses, clinics, and laboratories.
