Belarus, Russia to sign agreement on common industrial policy in the shortest term

Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Parkhomchik has met with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of Belarus to the Russian Federation Dmitry Krutoy and Belarus’ Industry Minister Aleksandr Rogozhnik – as reported in the press service of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia.

During the talks, the two sides noted with satisfaction that last year, for the first time in history, the trade turnover between the two countries reached $50bn.

The main topic of the meeting was industrial interaction between Belarus and Russia. Approaches to the implementation of promising import-substituting investment projects for the production of civilian and military products were detailed. Issues of deepening co-operation in the military-technical sphere were discussed separately, and agreements were reached on continuing work in this direction. The positions of the parties on the issue of production and sale of tractor equipment and harvesters in the Union State market were also tackled.

Moreover, the parties paid special attention to liaisons between the two countries’ economic entities in the light and chemical industries and outlined particular areas for increasing mutual trade.

During the meeting, an agreement was reached on signing of an intergovernmental agreement on a common industrial policy as soon as possible.
