Lukashenko arrived in UAE on working visit

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has arrived in the United Arab Emirates on a working visit, with the Head of State’s aircraft landing at Abu Dhabi Airport, BelTA reports

Immediately at the airport, Aleksandr Lukashenko held talks with UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi.

“Thank you for your hospitality. I would like to discuss a number of issues of our relations here in a few days, meet with investors who work in Belarus, investing in our economy,” the Head of State said about the details of his visit.

“A number of meetings and negotiations are planned as part of the visit. They will focus primarily on the continuation and development of co-operation in trade-economic, investment, humanitarian and other areas of mutual interest,” the Belarusian leader’s press service noted.

Aleksandr Lukashenko has just paid a working visit to Oman. The high-level talks in Muscat crowned mutual efforts to bring interaction to a new level.

One of Oman’s key proposals is to create a hub for Belarusian products there. The locals have been able to trade for centuries, and Belarus is in great need of such partners. The parties intend to develop an updated roadmap for co-operation in the near future, and then the Sultan of Oman himself is expected to pay a visit to Minsk.

“We have actually defined our action plan with the Sultan. We have set up an intergovernmental commission and since yesterday we have started working out a roadmap: a plan of our actions. The Sultan of Oman will visit Belarus in the middle of next year. We will approve then this roadmap and plan,” the President of Belarus said.

The members of the Belarusian delegation also worked actively on the side-lines of the visit. In addition to meetings and negotiations in ministries, a number of documents in the field of industry, standardisation and conformity assessment were signed as a result. Specific mechanisms for building co-operation and real projects have been worked out at the departmental level, and local roadmaps have been agreed upon. In the near future, in accordance with these roadmaps, mutual visits will take place at the level of business circles, representatives of companies at their level will be engaged in building long-term and reliable relations.
