Lukashenko: Belarusian People’s Congress delegates should be able to involve society in political discourse

A common understanding of the national strategy should further unite and strengthen Belarusians – as stated today by President Aleksandr Lukashenko at the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress

“We’re proud of our accumulated experience in strategic planning. The Congress has largely determined Belarus’ state structure for almost three decades. All five-year socio-economic development programmes were implemented only after approval by the delegates of the Belarusian People’s Congress,” the Head of State underlined.

According to the President, the time has come to reach a new level.

“An we did it. With the acquisition of a constitutional status, the role of the Congress and the competence of its delegates have increased many times. Now the Belarusian People’s Congress approves all the main programme documents that determine the country’s economic development and security. In short, these are strategic issues,” the Belarusian leader added.

At the same time, Aleksandr Lukashenko drew attention to an important aspect, “Of course, delegates must understand what is written in these documents and be able to explain it to people. It’s not enough just to explain – it is necessary to involve society in political discourse. We can’t do today without it. If we don’t talk to our citizens about the global development goals of the state, others will do it for us. It is a common understanding of the national strategy that should further unite and strengthen us.”
