Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence Andrei Lukyanovich revealed the peculiarities of the ongoing surprise inspection of the air defence forces, conducted today with the Commander-in-Chief’s participation

Mr. Lukyanovich recalled that at the first meeting of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress, strategic documents – the National Security Concept and the Military Doctrine – have been approved.

“Our Military Doctrine is purely defensive in nature while the defence of any state relies on air defence. The Head of State has attended today the inspection of the air defence forces on duty. It wasn’t easy. Its peculiarity was that the Commander-in-Chief himself was present. The composition of the forces on duty has been significantly increased. Moreover, a difficult air situation was created, and air targets were additionally assigned for both the air force and air defence forces. There were the crews of the Emergencies Ministry, border guards and DOSAAF (Voluntary Society for Assistance to Army, Air Force and Navy). As the Head of State and the Chief of the General Staff noted that all targets were detected by radio engineering troops and destroyed by anti-aircraft missile forces. Aviation also performed very well, performing practical elements of compelling to land.”

Andrei Lukyanovich stressed that the President pays great attention to social support for military personnel, the development of the Armed Forces, modernisation and purchase of military equipment.

“New S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems were put on combat duty last year. Just a couple of weeks ago, we received the second batch of MI-35 helicopters, and we are waiting for the next batch. We are also purchasing new equipment for the radio engineering troops: domestically-produced samples (Rosa-RB and Vostok) alongside Russian-made equipment (Protivnik). We cherish our peaceful sky,” the Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence of Belarus underlined.
