MP commented on Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s death

A helicopter with Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on board crashed near the Iran-Azerbaijan border on May 19th. The search operation continued all night, and Iranian Vice President Mohsen Mansouri confirmed the death of the President of the Islamic Republic and other members of the delegation in the morning of May 20th. In his talk with Alfa Radio, the Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly on International Affairs, Oleg Gaidukevich, stated that it was tragic news not only for Iran, but also for the entire Middle East.

According to Mr. Gaidukevich, President Raisi was a figure of great importance, he always fought for justice and did a lot not only for Iran, but also for the whole world. “Raisi was a great friend of our President, Aleksandr Lukashenko. Belarus and Iran have always had close ties. Just like Iran, our republic has always stood for a just world," he added.

The MP stated that he’s convinced of the strength of Iran's spirit, “I am sure that Iran will stand its ground, because it has very strong spiritual bonds. The role of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is very important there, and they will do everything to ensure that the country remains stable. Actually, Raisi's death is a great loss, so I would like to express sincere condolences – not only mine but also on behalf of all Belarusian parliamentarians, political parties and the Belarusian people.”

Mr. Gaidukevich drew attention to a series of tragic events in May, which, in his opinion, were not accidental, “An assassination attempt on the Prince of Saudi Arabia, an attempted assassination of the Prime Minister of Slovakia, incidents related to the President of Serbia, and an attempted coup in Turkiye. Of course, all these cases need to be investigated, but – by coincidence – everything always happens to those who oppose the war in Ukraine, who stand for a multipolar world, and who say that Russia is not an enemy.”

According to the MP, the West does not like some European deputies who express an alternative point of view to Brussels and the United States and advocate the establishment of relations with Russia, negotiations on Ukraine and the rejection of sanctions. Therefore, Mr. Gaidukevich believes that the assassination attempt on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who repeatedly opposed the ‘idiotic decisions of Brussels’, always told the truth and did not want to obey the United States and the United Kingdom, was committed precisely by the collective West.

“We can see how intolerant the West is towards those who interfere with it,” Mr. Gaidukevich noted. “Actually, the assassination on European politicians was not the first case in Europe and the world – just think of Muammar Gaddafi. Why was he killed? He simply said that the Dollar was not needed! Why was Saddam Hussein killed? That was done because of oil – in order to bring the Middle East to its knees. The same situation is now observed in Europe. Attempts are being made to remove the politicians who advocate independence from the political field in every possible way. They are firstly being discredited to be further brought to criminal responsibility. The issue of their elimination is considered as well. The United States and its allies have one goal: to deprive Europe of the remnants of sovereignty. They do not need an independent Europe.”
