Mr. Harris noted that people with refugee status should make a certain contribution ‘to ensuring their residence’.

“This is especially true for refugees from Ukraine. We are proud that there are so many refugees from Ukraine in this country. However, we need a reasonable approach [on the distribution of housing and government support],” the Irish PM said.

In an interview with local radio Newstalk, the Head of Government discussed possible measures to change the work with migrants in Ireland, particularly, it was about the distribution of financial assistance and accommodation of refugees.

The PM also stressed that the state’s support for refugees should not depend on when these people arrived in Ireland.

“This [the amount of the allowance] should not depend on whether they arrived this month or another,” the official added.

Reuters reports that the Irish government this week will consider reducing state support for refugees, including those who arrived from Ukraine.
