75 children from Syria coming to Belarus for recuperation

Seventy-five boys and girls from Syria have been sent to holiday and recuperate at Belarus’ Zubrenok National Children's Educational and Health Centre. As reported by BelTA with reference to the Foreign Ministry, Belarusian Ambassador Yuri Sluka met with the young Syrians before their departure.

Children from friendly countries have been invited to Belarus on vacation every year since 2017. This programme is being implemented following a decision of President Aleksandr Lukashenko. By now, more than 1.3 thousand Syrian children have recuperated in the republic, and this year, most of those coming are parentless boys and girls from Syrian orphanages.

"This humanitarian project is an important event in the history of bilateral Belarusian-Syrian relations. We emphasise the strategic level of partnership between the two countries and the responsible position of Belarus in our relations with Syria through such concrete actions,” the diplomat said. “We decided once that we would support Syrians, and we plan not to change our mind in this regard.”

Moreover, as noted by Mr. Sluka, such projects are a good opportunity for the development of such an important instrument of international relations as public diplomacy. "This is the diplomacy of children in case of Belarus and Syria. I want you to plunge into the atmosphere of friendly Belarus in the coming two weeks,” he addressed the children.

As reported, in accordance with a decree of the President of Belarus, funds have been allocated for the organisation of recreation for 413 children from Egypt, China, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Syria and Uzbekistan at the Zubrenok National Children's Educational and Health Centre.

During their stay in Belarus, the children will undergo a medical examination, receive the necessary treatment, attend cultural events, and visit landmark historical sites in Minsk and countrywide.
