Sergeyenko: Western intelligence agencies today view our people, especially youngsters, as recruiting material

Parliamentarians need to actively convey to people the President’s thesis that Western special services today view our people, especially youngsters, as recruiting material, with huge money spent on information and psychological operations – as stated by Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of the eighth convocation Igor Sergeyenko during a working meeting with deputies focusing on the organisation of work in electoral districts

The Speaker of the House of Representatives drew attention to the fact that the state is certainly doing a lot to counter such plans. However, the main thing is that there must be a return and a movement towards it on the part of our citizens, particularly, parents, who have a direct duty to protect young people from being involved in illegal activities.

“People should understand that they are not bystanders. Peace in the country and the fight against the threats of terrorism and extremism depend nowadays on each of us. Therefore, the call of the President, who referred to the Belarusian People’s Congress delegates, to be vigilant, to inform the authorities about any facts that could destabilise the situation in the country, should be perceived as a factor in ensuring their own safety and the safety of their loved ones,” Mr. Sergeyenko underlined.

“Attempts to shake up our society will continue, especially on the eve of the upcoming election campaign. Nevertheless, we must – as the Head of State pointed out – preserve Belarus and its people, preferably without war. Moreover, the Military Doctrine clearly establishes the peaceful status of our country, as we are not going to attack anyone,” the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of the eights convocation noted.

The agenda of the working meeting included a discussion of the Head of State’s instructions given to the Belarusian People’s Congress delegates and information work with voters to highlight the decisions taken at the Belarusian People’s Congress.
