Lukashenko: Great Victory is main and key moment in history of formation of Belarusian nation

Belarus needs peace tomorrow, in a year and always – as stated by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko during a wreath-laying ceremony at the Victory Monument as part of the patriotic campaign: Belarus Remembers!

“The Great Victory is the main and key moment in the history of the rebirth and formation of the Belarusian nation. Its lessons enable us to look into the future today, remembering and knowing the past. Moreover, the love of life and creative energy of the victorious generation, who restored the country from the ruins, are an example of how we should live and work,” the Head of State underlined.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that ‘Belarus needs peace tomorrow, in a year and always’. “It’s important for us to stand up and not let ourselves be drawn into conflicts. Time has chosen us to preserve the independence of our land and everything created by many generations before us, everything that we are proud of and admire,” the President stressed.

The Belarusian leader added that to do this, we are developing the economy, strengthening our defence and educating our youngsters to be patriots. We keep peace and prosperity in our native land, as our ancestors bequeathed to us.

“The Great Victory they won gives us faith that Belarusians are able to overcome and withstand everything. Honour and glory to the victorious warriors! Honour and glory to our dear veterans! Eternal memory to those who fell on the battlefield, to those tortured in Nazi dungeons and concentration camps,” the President said before a minute of silence.
