Kochanova: Belarus proud of its relations with China
China is a close, reliable friend and a good partner for Belarus – as stated by Natalya Kochanova, the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic, as she met with Xie Xiaoyun, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Belarus, today
“We are grateful for the good relations that are developing between our countries, and we are proud of these relations,” Ms. Kochanova stressed. “In many ways, such exemplary, constructive relations are a great merit of our leaders: President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of China Xi Jinping. In March 2023, Aleksandr Lukashenko visited China, following which the main vectors of further co-operation between our countries were identified. It is important that the tasks of co-operation between the parliamentarians of our countries have been determined.”
The Chairperson of the Council of the Republic assessed the co-operation of Belarusian and Chinese parliamentarians as quite effective, “We have held quite serious events. In my opinion, they have further deepened our relations. With the involvement of our women's organisations, a seminar for women from Belarus and China was held. Not long ago, a round table discussion on youth policy, which is a very important issue, took place.”
Ms. Kochanova noted that an agreement on co-operation was signed between the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the National People's Congress of China in 2023. “The formation of a committee on co-operation between the parliamentarians of our countries is on its final stage,” she added.
