Lukashenko donated Resurrection icon to St. Elijah Church in Orsha

On the bright Easter holiday, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko donated the Resurrection icon to St. Elijah Church in Orsha created by the craftsmen of St. Elisabeth Convent in Minsk. The main storyline of the icon is the crushing of the gates of hell, as well as the triumph of good over evil in a confrontation that lasts for thousands of years. The icon depicts the Saviour holding a righteous cross in his hands and gradually leading the martyrs, the Old Testament prophets and the forefather of mankind, Adam, out of hell.

It is believed that the image helps regain lost faith, healing from severe physical and mental ailments.

Abbess of the Holy Dormition Convent, Mother Susanna donated an icon of the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky – made by icon painters of Orsha’s Holy Epiphany Kuteinsky Monastery – to President Aleksandr Lukashenko.
