The Polish judge fleeing is a poke in the eye of Poland’s authorities – as stated by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko after taking part in the celebrations on the occasion of Victory Day, BelTA reports

"This is a trend [when Polish officials flee the country], but not the point which some persons speak about: that, together with Russians, we recruit such people, that these are our agents, our employees. It is complete nonsense! I saw this man only during his press conference. This is an absolutely normal person," Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

The Head of State said that the KGB had reported to him about that situation on the eve of the press conference. The President instructed to check the biography of this Polish citizen first. "They did – to see that he is an absolutely normal, patriotic Pole. His colleagues have never said anything bad about him. Actually, this is a poke in the eye of Poland’s authorities, so they begin to say that he is a traitor, and so on. He is not a traitor, but he realistically views the affairs, he compares Poland and Belarus and draws conclusions," Aleksandr Lukashenko noted. “We warned him, saying that he could gather a press conference and so on, but he should not put himself at risk. “I am not afraid. I should tell you the truth about what is happening in Poland,” he said. The situation has caused a stir as a result.”

The Head of State added that even his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, had got interested in the situation. "That is, everyone has noticed it. It is a poke in the eye, so they need to say something. Accordingly, they say that this man has been recruited. Listen, it is complete nonsense. If so, then please submit the proof. Everything is simple: submit the facts, present them to the world community and, above all, to your people," the President added.

Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasised that Poland, Lithuania and Latvia block the borders with Belarus, prevent their people from coming to the republic – intimidating their citizens by saying that they will be captured and recruited in Belarus.

"It is an absolute nonsense. Who among you will believe this? Who is grabbing people at the border and recruiting them? It is now actually not a problem at all to recruit someone, if necessary. There is even no need to pay money: there are enough idea-guided people who will inform us there. Moreover, if we call them agents, then these people are needed for us there, not here. Therefore, these are lies. They react in a hurry, without understanding or even thinking about how to react to it," the Head of State added.

As reported recently, Polish judge Tomasz Szmydt has asked for protection from the Belarusian authorities. “I would like to allow myself to address President Aleksandr Lukashenko directly," the Pole said. "I really apologise for my boldness, but I will allow myself to ask for custody, protection of the President and Belarus in general."

Tomasz Szmydt is a judge of the 2nd division of the Voivodeship Administrative Court in Warsaw, who previously held various positions in Poland’s judicial system and justice authorities and headed the legal department at the Polish National Judicial Council.

Due to his disagreement with the policy and actions of the authorities, the man had to leave Poland out of necessity. He is currently in Belarus. Tomasz Szmydt was persecuted and threatened for his independent political position.
