The war taught Belarusians to cherish their native land, protect it at the cost of their own lives and preserve the memory of their ancestors’ heroic deed – as stated by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, during a wreath-laying ceremony at the Victory Monument as part of the patriotic campaign: Belarus Remembers!
The Head of State stressed that we must do everything to prevent a third world war, “Otherwise, a nuclear apocalypse is inevitable. To do this, we all need to stand together.”
The Belarusian leader added that humanity has already managed to unite against universal evil once in its history, “This resulted in Victory. At that time, we crushed fascism because we were together: Russians and Belarusians, Ukrainians and Kazakhs, Lithuanians and Uzbeks, Moldovans and Tajiks. All the peoples of the great Soviet country fought together. Dozens of other nations of the world fought with us against the Nazi horde, including Europe and the US. We haven’t forgotten that.”
“They give immunity against false ideas and hidden manipulations, becoming a beacon in the sea of challenges and threats of the new age,” the Head of State added.
“We did not kneel before the enemies then and we do not intend to bow our heads now. The war taught Belarusians to cherish their native land, protect it at the cost of their own lives and preserve the memory of their ancestors’ heroic deed. We will not allow a repeat of what they have seen and experienced,” Aleksandr Lukashenko underlined.
According to the President, we’re educating our youth today, using the example of war heroes. Moreover, these are our young people who have to play the main role in preserving the memory of the heroic deed of our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers, which we must preserve first of all in our families.
“Then no political situation will negate or weaken the spiritual unity of generations. Otherwise, talks about friendship and peace, that we are for all the good, but against all the bad, will make them – and therefore our future – vulnerable in the face of modern threats,” the Belarusian leader emphasised.
The Head of State is convinced that manipulations are useless if people live by their own minds, “External challenges and attempts to put pressure on Belarus have led our country becoming stronger. We will do everything so that no one even thinks of trying this out.”
The President noted that we bow our heads with the deepest gratitude to the courage and steadfastness of all those who gave their lives for the freedom of future generations, “At the same time, we say a decisive ‘no’ to those who are trying to cross out the pages of history written in blood.”
Addressing the veterans, the Head of State stressed that they had given an unforgettable lesson to all future generations, “It is a lesson in courage, patriotism, love of freedom and fortitude. I bow low to you, who live, and to those who have left us, for your unparalleled feat, valour, bravery and faithful service to the Fatherland.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko congratulated everyone on Victory Day, wished the veterans strong health, longevity and well-being, and happiness, peace and kindness to every Belarusian family.
