Egor Gerasimov advanced to semi-finals at China tennis tournament

Egor Gerasimov (ATP: 321) continues to perform successfully at the Wuxi Open, beating Chinese Jie Cui (ATP: 431) – 3:6, 6:4, 7:5 – in the quarter-finals on May 10th

The first set was initially marked by the server’s advantage over the receiver, with no breaks. However, in the end, Jie Cui won several games in a row, thus closing the set in his favour.

The fate of victory in the second set was decided by a single break, made by the representative of the Belarusian tennis school in the seventh game.

In the decisive third set, both athletes were brilliant on their serves for a long time, as a result of which a tie-break seemed inevitable. However, in the 11th game our tennis player distinguished himself on the return, and in the 12th he scored the winning point.

Earlier at these competitions, Egor Gerasimov consistently beat the Japanese Hiroki Moriya (ATP: 329) (6:3, 7:5) and Max Purcell of Australia (ATP: 84) (6:4, 6:3), who was seeded first. The Belarusian’s next opponent will be Russian Alibek Kachmazov (ATP: 269).

The tournament in Wuxi, held on a hard surface, belongs to the ATP Challenger Tour category and has a prize pool of $82,000. The competitions end on May 12th.
