UAE Ambassador: Belarus boasts economic potential and extensive investment opportunities
In recent years, relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Belarus have been actively developing, and the countries are striving to strengthen co-operation in various fields. As stated by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Belarus, Ibrahim Salim Mohamed Al-Musharrakh, at a solemn event on the occasion of the 53rd UAE National Day, bilateral ties are strengthening rapidly in many areas of vital importance.
“Our countries have signed 14 agreements and 26 memoranda of understanding in the political, economic and cultural fields. Their positions coincide on many key issues on the regional and international agenda, including the rejection of interference in the internal affairs of states," the diplomat stressed.
Ibrahim Salim Mohamed Al-Musharrakh noted that, at the political level, this is manifested in the holding of high-level meetings between the two sides, which reflect the strong friendship uniting the Emirati and Belarusian peoples, and are characterised by mutual respect and common interests due to close co-operation between the political leaders of both countries. “Meetings of our state leaders and ministers, as well as mutual visits of official delegations, are held regularly,” he said.
According to the diplomat, the UAE is the major partner of Belarus in the Middle East and North Africa in terms of the economy. “The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Belarus are striving to increase the volume of mutual trade. A number of economic agreements have been signed between our countries aimed at promoting trade turnover and opening markets. The volume of trade in non-oil goods increased fivefold in 2023 against the 2022 figures,” he noted. “Belarus boasts economic potential and many investment opportunities. The UAE's interest is focused on investing in various sectors such as industry, agriculture, technology, and real estate. In recent years, the volume of Emirati investments in the real sector of the Belarusian economy has increased, which allowed the UAE to take the 3rd place in terms of foreign investments into Belarus.”
