"I was returning from a store, passing by a first-aid centre. “Are you, Trofimovna [Yekaterina Trofimovna Lukashenko] sick?" I asked, and she replied, “Tatiana Nikolaevna, is it possible not to get sick? I will go to Minsk tomorrow and take my son back. He has nothing to do there.” I laughed and said, “Well, Trofimovna, you may go, but people will not let him return with you: he has been elected by the nation,” the woman smiled.

The teacher added that Yekaterina Trofimovna loved her son with all her heart and soul. “He was accustomed to work from childhood. Initially, he learned how to use a harrow, and then he mastered a plow and a scythe."

"Everything happened, they were boys after all. There were situations when I had to be tough on them,” Tatiana Karpechenko shared her memories of the President's school years. He [Belarus’ President] was my husband's favourite pupil. He taught history and used to say, “Lukashenko is my best pupil.”
